...I’m barely feeling nostalgic
reblogged from melanyouth: “ I’m already feeling nostalgic.
You know that feeling you get when you are leaving something behind and even though you are looking forward to the change, there is a little or maybe a medium-sized pang in your heart when you think about the things you are leaving? The sights and sounds and smells, the feelings you have had in this place, the ways you are comfortable (too comfortable, sometimes), the things so familiar that you haven’t even noticed them for awhile, until you start seeing them again with the leaving eyes, and of course all the people, always the people, and the things that happened here, good or bad or just what is, what was.”
I guess I will just come clean here and say that the place I am moving from is cricket’s house, which is the place she is moving to! I will miss the wild strawberries, and the woodstove, and even the cats. But the pang in my heart is a very small one. I am so excited to be moving to my own house, with my partner where we can create our own shared environment, and our own personal micro-climates within, just the way we want them, within the material bounds of space and our budgets, of course!
